July, 2011: Congratulations to Joel for sucessfully defending his Ph. D. thesis.
January, 2011: Belated congratulations to Melanie and Brenna for passing their candidacy exams, and to Shuai and Zhenyu for passing their 502 exams. Also a warm welcome to Nathan Gerein, a new postdoc in the lab.
August, 2010: It's been a great summer in the Veinot lab with help from awesome undergraduate summer students Amber Shukaliak and Kale Edwards! Also we must sadly say goodbye to Mike Dang, who defended his MSc. Check out updated publications and photos from our awesome boating adventure! Yeah!
December, 2009: A belated welcome to new grad students Sarah Regli, Zhenyu (Kevin) Yang, Mita Dasong and Leah Coumont. Welcome all!
September 9th, 2009: Congratulations Dr. Eric J. Henderson! Eric successfully defended his thesis at the end of July. Dr. Henderson has since moved to Toronto to join the group of Geoffrey Ozin. We wish him the very best!
May 1st, 2009: A big Veinot group welcome to summer students Dave Grewer and Alex Dobbie! They are cool fellows, you should talk to them. Also, there's some new publications to check out.
April 30th, 2009: Congratulations Dr. Shaune McFarlane! Shaune successfully defended his thesis on April 28th, 2009. Dr. McFarlane has taken up a post-doc position with the Freund group at the University of Manitoba.
January 7th, 2009: Congratulations to Leah and Davin! They have each received the 2007-2008 CSC Materials Science and Engineering Division Undergraduate thesis award. Click here to find out more information about their achievement. Way to go!
October 31st, 2008: Welcome to new graduate students Shuai Zhou and Tara-Lynn Underhill! Also, congratulations to Shaune, Leah and Davin for their recent article in Macromolecules!
September 16th, 2008: Congratulations to Colin and Janet! They have successfully defended their Ph.D. theses this summer, and have now gone on to greater things (read: post-docs!). In other news, our group photo is so out of date it's not even funny. Check back soon for a new one! A warm welcome to Rhett Clark, a new post-doc in the group. Also: the publications page has been updated.
May 29th, 2008: While we're recovering in the aftermath of CSC 2008, here's a brief update on the group: Congratulations are in order for Eric and Jos?for their recent articles in JACS and APL respectively! Likewise, many group members presented their works in the form of talks and posters at the CSC and at the Nanoforum, both held here on campus. Photos are forthcoming.
January 8th, 2008: A new year brings with it new faces! The Veinot group welcomes (somewhat belatedly) Melanie Johnson, Matt Sirtonski and joint students Michael Dang, Brenna Brown and Steve Barry. Also while we're on the topic of belated things, belated congratulations are in order for Eric, who successfully passed his 502, Shaune for passing his candidacy, Enrico for graduating and Colin for his inside front cover of Advanced Materials!
September 20th, 2007: This week has been crazy! I hope I don't forget anything. Colin successfully completed his candidacy despite being sicker than a dog, the boss gave his tenure talk despite having an emergency root canal four days before, and De-ann successfully defended her Master's thesis, despite our pleadings to stay on for a PhD. De-ann is the first home-grown Veinotite to graduate! We are very proud.
July 30, 2007: The Veinot Research Group expanded with the arrival of Isabelle Nancy Grace Veinot. The boss is now REALLY outnumbered with THREE little girls.
July 24, 2007: Congrats to Janet and Joel on the acceptance of their Langmuir contribution, "Iron/Iron Oxide Nanoparticle Sequestration of Catalytic Metal Impurities from Aqueous Solution and Organic Reaction Products."
July 7th, 2007: Hurrah for summer! Members of the group recently attended the Silicon Symposium in Victoria and the Nanoforum in Waterloo. Edmonton was duly represented.
March 8th, 2007: Congratulations to Eric for having his SiGe paper accepted to Chemistry of Materials!
