Isolation (Recovery) of neutral compounds

After removal of organic acids and amines by extraction, the only compounds still remaining dissolved in the organic solvent are neutral compounds.

Neutral compounds do not form salts and remain dissolved in organic solvent. Simply removing the solvent allows you to isolate/recover the neutral compound as a solid form. Volatile organic solvents can be removed by distillation.

However, before you perform distillation, you need to wash and dry the organic solution. See the next page.
