Present Position: Research Scientist, Qimonda AG, Dresden, Germany.

Hello and welcome to my corner of the Jäger group webpage!

My name is Kai Brendel and I am a visiting grad student from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany. For one year (August 1st, 2001 to July 31st, 2002) I have the pleasure to be a member of the Jäger group and a chance to do some research in the Jäger lab. This exchange was made possible by a scholarship from the DAAD (German academic exchange service) and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the friendly people at the DAAD for all their effort and of course for the financial support!!

My main interest in the field of spectrocopy consists of the investigation of molecular complexes of fluorinated benzenes with water or rare gas atoms using the Molecular Beam Fourier Transform Microwave spectroscopy techniques. To fully understand the spectra of these weakly bound complexes it is necessary to carry out high level ab initio calculations to obtain information about the potential energy surfaces of these clusters. These calcultations run on our beowulf computer cluster which I helped to set up last year and which I administrate for the group.
