Aiko Huckauf MSc & PhD
Christian-Albrechts-Universität
zu Kiel, Germany

I completed my chemistry study and graduated in physical chemistry at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany). Having finished my main courses in 1996, I joined the group of Prof. Dr. Antonio Guarnieri who subsequently supervised my MSc as well as my PhD research in physical chemistry.

In both cases I have been dealing with spectroscopic investigations of molecules in the gas phase. More precisely, I have synthesized various meta- or instable compounds and studied their rotational and rovibrational spectra in the centimetre-, millimetre- and submillimetre-wave range. Besides the chemical and the molecular physical aspects, my research herein has also comprised rather technical tasks as for example the manufacture of point contacts for frequency multipliers of the King-Gordy type.

The DFG project “Rotationsspektroskopische Untersuchungen neuer Alkinylisocyanide im Millimeter- und Submillimeterwellenbereich”, realised in collaboration with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Reinhard Knöchel (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Faculty of Engineering, Chair of High-Frequency Technique (Microwave Group)), has formed the principal part of my PhD research.

After my graduation in 2001 I joined the group of Dr. Wolfgang Jäger for a biennial Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Alberta.
