Recording a Spectrum

  1. Place your sample in the cell holder. Take care not to breathe into the sample compartment, as this will increase the concentration of water vapour and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of the compartment.

  1. At the “Please prepare to collect the sample spectrum” dialog box, click OK or press Enter.

The instrument will collect 8 scans of the sample and will display the spectrum on the screen.

  1. Type a name for your spectrum in the box beside the symbol that displays the date and time the spectrum was recorded.

  1. Remove the sample from the sample compartment. Another student may prepare their sample while you are processing your spectrum.

If the spectrum does not appear as you would expect, consult the troubleshooting page.
