Custom AutoInstall: Setting up the files on your server

To set up the Authorware Web Player AutoInstall files on your web server:

1 Download the files from Macromedia's web site. The AutoInstall files are also available on the Authorware 5.1 CD in the Authorware\WebPlayer\AutoInstall folder.
The AutoInstaller comes in a "full" version and an "minimal" version. The full version will play Authorware 3.5 and later files (4.0 and later for the Macintosh version) and includes all of the Xtras and UCDs typically necessary for playing back the different media types that Authorware supports. The minimal version is a much smaller download and is approximately one quarter the size of the full version. However, the minimal version only plays Authorware 5.0 files and later, and does not by default include all the playback capabilities that the full installer does. If you wish to add more playback capabilities, you can add additional Xtras, UCDs, and XCMDs to bin lines in the Web Player .aam files of Authorware pieces that you distribute. These additional Xtras will then be downloaded automatically the first time the users run your piece. For more information, see the Authorware readme.txt file on the Authorware 5.1 CD in the Authorware 5.1 Updater.
2 Unzip the download package and place the files on your web server.
Don't change the hierarchy of the contents of the Autoinstall folder. For the correct hierarchy, see What's inside the Autoinstall folder.
In the Help folder of the files you download, you'll find a copy of this document.
