Fluorene* (a neutral compound*) remained dissolved in the dichloromethane* (CH2Cl2) solution. Neutral compounds do not undergo salt formation.
The dichloromethane solution should be washed with water to remove water-soluble inorganic impurities, then dried, and the excess dichloromethane removed.
