Isolation of fluorene

Recall that in the "Separation" of the mixture you removed 4-methoxybenzoic acid* and phenol* by converting each to its corresponding water-soluble salt*.

Fluorene* (a neutral compound*) remained dissolved in the dichloromethane* (CH2Cl2) solution. Neutral compounds do not undergo salt formation.

The dichloromethane solution should be washed with water to remove water-soluble inorganic impurities, then dried, and the excess dichloromethane removed.

What will you do to remove the solvent (CH2Cl2) from fluorene?

Back extraction
Filtration
Distillation
