Inorganic base

Inorganic base: a large class of inorganic compounds with the ability to react with, that is, neutralize acids to form salts.

An inorganic base causes indicators to take on characteristic colors and usually refers to water-soluble hydroxides, e.g., sodium, potassium or ammonium hydroxide;

This term also includes weak bases, e.g., water-soluble carbonates or bicarbonates.
