Akihiko (Aki) Koizumi
Akihiko received his B.Phil. in 2006 and M.Phil. in 2008 from Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Science.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Parmaceutical Science at Keio University in
2011 under the supervision of Prof. F. Kiuchi, Prof. T. Takeda, and Dr.
N. Hada. His Ph.D. research was focused in synthetic and bioactive
studies on carbohydrate moiety of glycoprotein derived from parasites.
From 2011-2013, he worked as a posdoctoral fellow in Dr. Ykishige Ito's
group before joining Dr. Todd Lowary's group in 2013 as a postdoctoral
fellow. His current research is involved in the synthesis of substrates
for galactofuranosyl synthases GlfT1 and GlfT2 found in the Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall.
