Chemistry Computing Lab (W1-50)

Located in the first floor of the west wing, the lab consists of 40 Pentium II/233 computers running Windows 95 with multimedia support in each (desktop audio and video is available) and a OneCard printer. Software available in the lab includes MS Office 97, ChemDraw Standard, Prism, Chime, and Rasmol. Internet access (web, e-mail) is available to all holders of CNS ids. The lab is available from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday through Friday during the Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms. Trouble with the computers or OneCard printer in the lab during the day should be reported via e-mail to
. Some laptop ports are enabled at the desktops and on either wall (East and West). These laptop ports are configured identically to those in CNS labs and in the V-Wing study carrels, so the instructions for use are identical as well.
Physical Chemistry Instructional Computing Lab (W1-23)

Located in the first floor of the west wing, the lab consists of 10 486 and Pentium computers running Linux. These "workstations" are used in the Chem 383 and 493 courses. Students learn the use of Linux in their acquisition of theoretical and computational chemistry knowledge.

Projector and Smart Board

Duplex Laser Printing
The Department has acquired a QMS 1700 laser printer, capable of duplex printing (printing on both sides of the page automatically). The printer is capable of PostScript Level 1 and PCL 5, both at 600x600 dpi. People considering large print jobs of PDF versions of manuals, papers, etc. can arrange to print them here.
